Hybrid cars...gosh...I am sooooo interested in Hybrid cars...! When I heard about hybrid cars for the first time (and that was like yeaaaarsss ago)..I instantly fell in love..!
but as I was kinda young at that time (now still young lagik la..hehehe) and the fact that hybrid cars are very2 expensive...what I could do was just to see from afar...(even nak test drive pun tak confident..! adeehh..)
but recently..FINALLY...I had the guts to test 2 hybrid cars in one day....two rivals....Toyota Prius and Honda Insight...Honestly speaking I am much of a Honda fella..but as Prius is much 'senior' from Insight...I decided to test drive both....

and guess what....!! testing both cars lead to a very2 unexpected result....
I WAS TURNED OFF...!!
The reasons....both cars have 'cons' that I couldn't accept lightly...
So lets compare..! ;)
Exterior
This one..for me Toyota Prius wins...the design is much sleek and futuristic..it also looks much steady from Honda Insight...
Interior
Hail Honda Insight..!! hehehehe....and as for Toyota Prius...this is one of the cons that I could not accept...boy...the interior of Toyota Prius....TAK LAWA..!!! at least for me la...I never googled the interior of Prius before test driving so as soon as I step inside Prius..I was instantly dissapointed..! ~sigh... some people might say that this is a small issue..but not to me as interior is something that I would look at EVERY TIME I drive..so for me..it MATTERS...

Performance
This one is like 50/50....in terms of cc...Prius wins as it is 1.8cc while Insight is only 1.3cc....BUT driving both..I realize Insight's engine is much smoother than Prius (dunno if the test drive Prius car is in bad condition or anything...) Prius engines is much louder and 'kasar' from Insight...hmmmmm...
Fuel Consumption
Hands down to Toyota Prius..! it can go up to 38km/l...!! but Insight...err..according to the salesman...18km/l...and dats the turn-off for me on Insight..the major reason for owning a hybrid is to save in fuel...but 18km/l...? thats not good enough..thats even way farrrrr from good enuf..!
Hybrid Options
Toyota Prius wins again as it has the option of using totally electric..! at least when u're driving 60km/h and below..this would be very2 useful in traffic jams...imagine having to face traffic jams with no decrease in fuel at all...! ;)
Fancy Pancy
This one also Toyota Prius wins...it has the keyless ignition with sensor in the door locking system...so you don't have to actually lock the door with a key..all you have to do is touch the door handle and it locks..! the same goes to unlocking...just open it..as when your hand touches the handle...it automatically unlocks the door...haaaaaa....worried other people would steal your car just by touching it...? kenot laaa....the sensor works when the actual key is nearby... ;)
In a nutshell....cons for Insight are the fuel consumption and cc.....while Prius's cons are the interior and loudness of the engine roar.....

~I am certainly not an expert in hybrid cars but this are my sincere opinions on both cars (from a test driver point of view)...most of you surely have much more information than me...especially hybrid car owners....so if you wanna share...I would be grateful.... =)
~owh and I heard the tax-free benefit on hybrid cars may end by next year...so by 2012 the prices of hybrid cars will rise again..is it true..?
